Learning from Those Unlike You

November 4, 2009

There’s a game kids love to play.  It’s called Would You Rather… They ask each other all sorts of questions to exercise the imagination, like “would you rather have no hair at all, or hairy armpits that reach to floor”.  It’s a funny game.

But on a serious note, with all the conflict in the world, a good question for adults is, “would you rather be right, or be in relationship?”

The skill of listening and suspending judgement needs to be regained, says Gabe Lyons, co-author of UnChristian and guest of this week’s ThinkFwd interview hosted by Spencer Burke.  Lyons believes this generation is ready—open to learning from each other at a heart-level without expectations of immediate results, and without needing to control the direction of the conversation.

We’ve been discussing this approach to relationships and evangelism in ConneXions.  I think you’ll enjoy this interview…
