Krattenmaker’s article is all about the transcendent power of community service. It’s a must-read. You won’t be disappointed.
Here in Bend, we recently had our own Evangelism 2.0 event: Days of Caring. As you might expect, we found it more blessed to give than to receive. Here are some quotes from a few of our participants:
- “Participating in Redmond’s Days of Caring got our family out of its rutted pew to help a neighbor get their ox out of the ditch.” (Darrin)
- “We are just so blessed to be able to serve in our community, with our family. The Days of Caring gave us, as a family, an awesome opportunity to show God’s love in our community.” (Chad)
- “It’s humbling to wake up in the morning complaining, wondering why you’ve signed up to volunteer again. Only to arive and be immediately reminded of how much you have to be thankful for. As stabs of guilt torment you throughout the day, finally going to bed wondering what else can I do to help?” (Laura)
