Eternal Life Starts Now

August 19, 2009

leslie_camacho8/22/09.  Speaker Bio:

Leslie Camacho is recovering from self-sufficiency and enjoying the grand adventures that happen when walking with God. He’s married to his beautiful wife Laura, is charmed everyday by his daughter Sophia, and is looking forward to meeting his second, due in February.

In his own words:

“My life changed drastically when I discovered that Eternal Life isn’t sitting around in heaven on fluffy clouds eating calorie-free full flavored ice cream and singing hymns on the hour. In my attempted escape from Christianity I discovered Jesus, who took me in as I was (and am) and graciously showed me that He and the Father want to be known. And knowing God is Eternal Life. This is a small slice of my story in the hopes that it will help you know God in different, unexpected ways. As C.S. Lewis writes in the Chronicles of Narnia, “He’s not a tame lion!” Nor is He “safe.”

Featured text for this week’s message:

“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.” John 17:1-4 ESV
