The Prayer of Exhaustion
April 10, 2009
You’ve been running all week. And there you are again. Exhausted. Caught between coffee and a hard place.
Exhaustion is the Enemy’s favorite tool in my life–to punish me for sticking my neck out–to make me believe it isn’t worth trying to do anything more than just survive.
And all I can do is pray:
Lord, I bring the healing ministry of Jesus Christ against this exhaustion, against this weight that holds me in bed, that holds me in dread of the day. Energize me Lord. Blow away the poison gas of the Enemy and let me breath fresh air again. Show me which battles are mine, and which are not.
Lord, I claim your promise that it’s possible for me to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Take me there in Your word.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11)
“Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” (Is. 40:30,31)
Just for today Lord, let me believe you. Let me know you are walking with me. Speak to my strengths. Tell me I have what it takes. Father me.
