ConneXions (4/4): The Well

March 31, 2009

We have discussed who God is, who we are, the relationship as Son’s and Daughter’s that was lost in the fall and regained by the offer of Rebirth.  We looked at some of the elements of the Kingdom of God – rebirth, Spirit, and Life – that make the Kingdom on earth possible.  Now I would like to look how Kingdom work on earth might look – the attitude toward religion, culture, and people. First Serve Nuggets (3/28)

March 28, 2009

ColdThe nugget of truth that stuck with me today was this:

“Many of those we think are unlovely are simply unloved. And it’s our job to do the loving.”  Thank you for reminding us of this Kendal.

It reminded me of another quote I heard recently:

“We may meet a man and think him cold, when he is merely sad.”

Unfortunately, I can’t remember who said this.  Wish I could.

The ShackBOOK REVIEW & CONNEXIONS CLASS

Gordon MacDonald writes a thoughtful review of this astonishing book in Christianity Today.  I enjoyed his take on the book immensely.  It closely matches my own.

This book is not for the casual saint, but it is for anyone who has experienced love and loss, disenchantment, or great sadness–and who is wondering where God fits in. Read more

God is Dead

March 16, 2009

Atheist BusGod is Dead.  And we killed him.

In our parents generation, the main question was, “Which church is correct?”  These days, the question for a growing number of people is simply, “Is it correct to believe in God at all?”

In 2008, militant atheists in the UK, US, and Spain kicked off a campaign to question the existence of God. Read more

Who am I – really? Part II

March 13, 2009

Our topic for ConneXions discussion March 14th, 2009

Let’s look back on the journey…  Created in God’s image with the capacity for self determination, for developing dynamic relationships, for living with a love motivation which is free of self interest and self protection.  Born as children of God, sharing in the essential characteristics and basic capacities of God’s heart of love.  Then the fall, thinking something greater than God’s heart was to be strived for, and instead realizing that to turn from God was to turn from life and life’s goodness.
