Worship Leaders Seminar

January 16, 2009

This is a call for those who have or would like to commit to helping lead in worship in any of its many facets…an opportunity to go to a seminar for training and inspiration.  The church would like to help sponsor those interested.  There are several seminars coming up.

One recommended by Pastor Jerry is the West Coast Worship Conference, which is sponsored by the NAD, to be held in Simi Valley, CA on March 5-7, 2009.  For more info see http://www.westcoastworshipconference.com/

Another recommended by Darrin is Deeper…The Worship Series, which is sponsored by Integrity Music, to be held in Portland, OR on May 4-5, 2009.  For more info see http://www.seminars4worshipemail.com/deeper_eblast/ .

A third, recommended by Lisa is on PosterModern evangelism…more info to follow.

The website for the SDA Conference on reaching the secular and post-moderns:

The conference is in May, in Seattle. It would be great to send a group!

Thanks Lisa. Yes, the REFRAME Training Event is May 22-24, 2009.

The Portland event is about $200 (early registration) and has an emphasis towards worship music leaders and musicians; the Simi Valley event is about $100 and is a mix of music leading, worship leadership, and the unique Adventist theology of music and worship made relevant to the 21st century culture; the Seattle event is about $100 and is directed at understanding and effective evangelism of the post-modern generation. We will cover registration costs and may be able to assist with other costs.

I would like to see Bend representatives go to each of the seminars, then we can pool ideals and see how God leads. Even if you don’t see yourself as a leader, we value committed supporters willing to share their gift of time by educating themselves and the rest of us in effective worship, evangelism and discipleship!

Don’t ask yourself if you are qualified. Ask – am I willing to let God use me? God will take care of the rest.

Gang. These are fantastic opportunities for us to restore our own hearts and begin the work of restoring the hearts around us–to serve our community’s needs for beauty, inspiration, and healing.

I agree with Craigan, let’s see how many of us we can get to these events.

Kathy and I attended an Integrity conference a couple of years ago with the expectation that we would learn how to be better music leaders, but we came away with a whole new perspective of worship. It’s not about the worship experience… it’s about how we use various tools (music, sermons, scripture, art) to lead people to give of themselves throughout the whole week in worship.

I think each of these seminars will enable those who attend to do that in its own unique way.

I would love to attend one or both of these. Let me know what I need to do.

If you would like a taste of the Re:frame training to be held in Seattle (reaching post-moderns), some notes are available at
